Notes From the President

Vanguard Medical is welcoming in the new academic year. Th ere have been a number of events and promotions in the last several months which are worthy of celebration, as noted in the following pages. Our faculty, as usual, have been extremely productive. I am delighted to announce that Drs. Michael Lyons and George ‘Chip’ Shaw have been awarded Career Development grants from the National Institutes of Health – this is a tremendous honor for these two gentlemen, and our Department. We are also delighted by the promotions to leadership of our faculty and the new additions to our Vanguard Medical faculty. Finally, we can once again announce that we have a tremendous group of new fi rst year residents, and one new second year resident, joining our program. We are extremely fortunate to have an outstanding faculty and Emergency Medicine Residency Training Program which attracts some of the best medical students in the United States.
